The Right to
Playgrounds Project
Every child deserves a safe place to play. Let’s put #100BasketsToHoop to create courts where children can grow, connect, and thrive.
From Lack to Opportunity
Creating safe sports spaces for underprivileged students
Mission
To build safe, accessible basketball courts for underprivileged students in India through community partnership, transparent funding, and responsible execution.
Vision
A future where every child in India has the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
Our Goal
To construct 100 community basketball courts across underserved regions in India and create long-term access to sports infrastructure for children.
Why Basketball?
Basketball is one of the most effective tools for change. It is affordable, inclusive, and requires minimal space. One well-built court can serve an entire school or neighborhood for many years.
Better Physical Health
Regular access to a basketball court encourages daily movement. Children develop strength, coordination, and stamina through consistent play. Physical activity also improves energy levels and supports overall growth, helping students stay active, focused, and resilient both inside and outside the classroom.
Stronger Mental Well-being
Sports help children manage stress, build confidence, and develop emotional balance. A safe place to play allows them to express themselves, feel included, and grow self-belief. Team sports also teach patience, discipline, and respect, creating positive habits that extend far beyond the court.
Safer Community Spaces
A basketball court becomes a shared space for students, families, and local residents. It encourages positive gatherings and reduces idle time. These courts foster community pride, create safer environments, and offer young people a constructive outlet that brings neighborhoods together around a common purpose.

Why We Started
The Right to Playgrounds Project began with a simple observation. Across many schools and neighborhoods, children have the desire to play, but not the space to do so safely. Empty grounds, broken equipment, and overcrowded areas leave students without access to sport, even when talent and enthusiasm are present.
We saw how a single court could change daily routines, build confidence, and bring communities together. This project exists to bridge that gap between potential and opportunity. Our focus is not only on construction, but on creating spaces that support growth, belonging, and long-term impact for children who need it most.
Courts for a Lifetime of Impact
Our long-term goal is to build 100 basketball courts in communities that need them the most.
We will begin by constructing four courts each year and gradually scale as awareness, funding, and partnerships grow. This phased approach allows us to learn, improve, and expand responsibly.
Through collaboration with schools, local residents, and supporters, we are building more than courts. Every constructed court represents a step toward equal access to sports and stronger community spaces. We are building opportunities for children to grow, connect, and believe in their potential.
How a Court Gets Built
We work with government schools, local communities, and volunteers to identify areas suitable for building a court within school premises or on nearby public land when space is limited. Each site is reviewed for accessibility, safety, and long-term usability.
Once a location is shortlisted, we begin the approval process with the relevant local authorities. This includes submitting site details, usage plans, and project objectives. Construction does not move forward until all required permissions are secured.
After initial approvals, we start fundraising for the project. Each court has a defined budget and timeline. Construction begins only when 60 percent of the required funds are collected. This ensures financial responsibility and reduces the risk of delays or incomplete projects.
Local vendors and service providers are engaged to build the court based on approved plans. Progress is documented and shared with supporters. After completion, the court is formally handed over to the school or community for regular use.
Funding Transparency
Transparency is central to our mission because trust is essential to long-term impact. We follow a milestone-based funding model to ensure accountability and clarity at every stage.
Each project has a defined budget, timeline, and progress plan. Fundraising begins only after a location is identified and preliminary permissions are in place. Construction starts only when 60 percent of the required funds are secured.
Supporters are kept informed through progress updates, photos, and status reports.
We Expect Community & Alumni Involvement
Alumni, local residents, and community members play a vital role in making each project possible. Your connection to a school or neighborhood creates lasting impact and shared responsibility.
When you support The Right to Playgrounds Project, you are not just funding a court. You are investing in children who deserve the chance to grow through play. Your contribution helps provide safe spaces where students can build confidence, discipline, and teamwork. It also strengthens community bonds and encourages collective care for public spaces.
By supporting this initiative, you become part of a movement that values fairness, opportunity, and long-term change. Together, we can ensure that no child is left without a place to play and grow.
